Jeremiah Mackin-Alonzi - Amesbury, MA Quarantine Photos
Jeremiah Mackin-Alonzi and Clara Posner
"While I love being home and appreciate this extra time I've gotten to spend with my family and dog (see the first picture), it would have been no huge loss if I didn't get it --I was soon going to be spending the whole summer home with them regardless. My time at Carleton feels like it is more finite and fleeting than my time at home, so it's a great loss to miss out on any of it. I am disappointed about the missed opportunities to connect more deeply with my friends and to foster new connections with other Carleton students (see the second picture), but I am striving to keep positive and am eagerly anticipating my return to the land of Cows, Colleges, and Contentment (see the third picture)!" Sarah Newsham - Full Circle
Sarah Newsham and Miyuki Mihira
"A few days ago I was walking around campus with a friend, one of my closest friends freshman year who has remained a good friend, one last time before she moved home. We'd been sitting behind Evans looking out at Bell Field and talking. As we were about to walk up the steps behind Evans, we saw, at the top of the steps, my freshman year roommate and her family, who had returned to campus to pick up her belongings. It was such a serendipitous moment, and also highlighted everything we had lost. A goodbye with my roommate is one of the many goodbyes I did not have a chance to say before leaving at the end of winter. We took a socially-distanced picture, waved by one more time, and continued our respective strolls around the deserted, locked, familiar-yet-alien-feeling campus". Dasha Palenova - Flip Phone Quarantine Photos
Dasha Palenova and Clara Posner
Photo Outline: 1. Car Window 2. Trees in Passing Both A and B were taken on a flip phone, playing with a lack of technology when resources seem limited. Rest of Photos Descriptions: The feeling of being trapped at home, everything is rainy and blurry and a bit suffocating. The person is washing off the blue dye I applied, we're all going crazy with our hair and looks here.

Shaw Qin - Calling My Sister
Shaw Qin and Clara Posner
"I am spending much more time video calling my family since I am now more or less isolated in my small dorm room. Once when I called my sister, who is two years younger than me, I almost burst into tears when my sister was the one begging me not to end the call after an hour into it. She used to be more unwilling to communicate, and I was already accustomed to begging her not to end video calls before the pandemic. Now she could understand my loneliness and fear, or she also misses me more than before. This reminds me how much I love her, how much I miss her, and how much I need the support of family when facing all the uncontrollable things alone and far away from home." (She/Her/Hers/class of 2022/Psychology/ Beijing, China/Northfield, MN)

Dima Rentel - Walks With Family in Yonkers, NY
Dima Rentel and Clara Posner
"I go on a lot of walks with my family. It's the only real sort of outlet we have outside the house. By far the best part of quarantine is having a little longer time with them. I thought the days of me being fully part of the family were over when I left for college. I definitely no longer feel at home in New York in my home, but on these walks it is like the old days, when, as a family, we would explore the northern parts of New York. There's not much to do at home, especially as it feels like our workplace now. All walks are the kiss of the sun and warmth of family, the two things that we have left at this point". Antonia Ritter - Minneapolis Quarantine Photos
Antonia Ritter and Clara Posner
"When I don't pay attention to the news, it's easy to not dwell on what's going on (no one close to me has been affected). My day-to-day experience of COVID-19, aside from mostly not leaving the house, is these weird little reminders that I see while walking around the neighborhood (displayed in the following photos)" The first and second photos are of lawn ornaments wearing masks, including a cement dog and pink flamingos, one made up as a plague doctor. The third photo is of melancholy graffiti in a tunnel near my house, stating "COVID 19 I miss my mom". (She/Her/Hers/class of 2022/Math/Minneapolis,MN/Minneapolis,MN)

Maya Rogers - Navigating Isolation On-Campus Photoset
Maya Rogers and Clara Posner
A) I’ve taken a lot of selfies with masks because I’ve been wearing them a lot. B) I’ve been documenting my hair growth, which I find fun. C) Zoom calls are such a big thing now and my favorite one was the Disability Services/OHP Caturday event. D) I’ve been cooking a lot, as I have a lot of time, not much else to do, and because I’m immunocompromised I’m trying to avoid all public places as much as possible. E) I did a CSA Instagram takeover and the photo with text is from that. F) The photo with the cupcake encapsulates both my want to support local businesses (like Cakewalk) as well as my reliance on Google Calendar. Not to mention I’m still so busy! G) The photo with the yellow mask is from a day I had to go to the hospital for my monthly infusion, which has gotten even more stressful and everyone is wearing masks but I still feel scared, though I have to get my treatment. It reminds me of how vulnerable I am, which I try to put out of my mind. (She/Her/Hers/class of 2022/ Psychology/Tulsa, OK/Tulsa, OK and Northfield, MN)
